Toney Hatton- Class of 2007
Toney was a 3 year varsity starter at Life Oak Cliff in FB and BB. He excelled in Basketball helping lead his team to record setting seasons while at Life. After graduation, he took his talents to Barclay College Bears men’s basketball team. He regularly wowed the crowds with his grace and creativity around the basket. He was just a bear that moved like a cat. In his four years as a member of the Bears basketball team he averaged 18.9 points per game and 7.2 rebounds over 83 games. He is in 6th place on the all-time scoring list at Barclay College with 1,576 points. It was no surprise that in the four years he played, the Bears never finished worse than 2nd place in the Midwest Christian College Conference (MCCC), including a conference championship in the 2010-11 season. In that same season he was named Most Valuable Player in the MCCC. In addition, he was voted 1st Team MCCC and named an Association of Christian College Athletics (ACCA) All-American his final three years of playing. After Barclay joined the National Christian College Athletics Association (NCCAA) in 2012-13, he was named to the Southwest Region 2nd Team as a senior.
“It was a privilege to get to witness the growth and maturity of Toney in all facets of his life,” said head coach Royce Bryan. “He was one of the ultimate team players. He made so many sacrifices for the team. He never complained. He was coachable. He learned from tough circumstances. We just enjoyed and continue to enjoy his smile and the time we have been given to live life with him and his family.”
