The Sports Med Club is for all students interested in a career related to the field expanding field of Sports Medicine. Popular careers may include: Athletic Trainers, Orthopedic Physicians, Sport Psychologists, Neurologists, Injury Research, Physical Therapists, Workplace Health Coaches, Strength and Conditioning Coaches, and so many more.
The club will meet once a month during the fall semester and twice a month during the spring semester.
Club members often have the opportunity to explore career choices through internships and observation of athletic events. Club members do not have to be enrolled in Sports Med classes, however, those enrolled in classes must participate in the club. The club is open to 8-12 grade students.
The Sports Med Club participates in the North Texas Athletic Trainers’ Association student conference in April every year. April 16, 2016 will be the 2015-16 conference date and be held on the campus of UTA. Many opportunities to learn about sports med, compete against other North Texas high schools for prizes and chances for scholarship are made available.
